This Privacy Policy describes how Horizons (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Horizons iOS application (the “App”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this policy.

- Questions you send to Ori (free-form follow-ups)
On-device usage preferences
If Usage Analytics is enabled in Privacy & Data, the App stores counts of certain Ori actions (such as “simpler”, “deeper”, or “confused”) locally on your device. This helps adapt Ori’s effective reading level. These counts stay on your device and are cleared if you turn the setting off. Notification preference toggles may also be stored on your device.
Technical information
Our service providers may process standard technical data needed to operate the App securely (for example, authentication tokens and request logs).

4. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the App:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage (for example profile photos and article thumbnails)
- Apple and/or Google — if you choose to sign in with those providers
- Anthropic — to generate Ori’s free-form chat replies when you ask a custom question. Article context and your question are sent so Ori can respond.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the App.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and associated data while your account remains active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile and associated user data (including saved articles, reading history, and saved Ori chats) from our systems, subject to short-term backups and any legal retention requirements.
6. Your choices
- Edit profile — update your display name, photo, and personalisation settings in the App
- Usage analytics — turn off local Ori adaptation analytics in Profile → Privacy & Data
- Delete account — permanently delete your account in Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete account
- Contact us — email us to ask questions about your data
7. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
8. International processing
Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your own.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
